Pet Taxi in Morris County: Getting Your Dog Where They Need to Go
The vet finally has an opening. It’s 2 PM on a Tuesday, you’re in a meeting in Parsippany, and your dog is at home in Denville with no way to get there. Most dog owners in Morris County have been through some version of this. Moving a meeting, leaving work early, or asking a neighbor for one more favor all get old fast. That’s where our pet taxi comes in. We pick your pet up at home, get them where they need to go, and bring them back safely, so the appointment happens even when you can’t be there.
Pups and Recreation has been caring for pets across Morris, Somerset and Essex Counties since 2022. The pet taxi grew out of a request we kept hearing from our walking and pet sitting clients: “Can you just get her to the vet for me?” Now we can.
What Our Pet Taxi Covers
Most rides are vet appointments, but that’s only part of it. We drive pets to the groomer, to daycare, to and from boarding, and to the airport for owners who are flying with their pets or picking them up. If you’re coming home from a trip and your dog is still at a boarding facility, we can pick them up so they’re home when you walk in the door. If your pet needs to get somewhere and you can’t drive them, it’s probably a trip we can handle.
And it isn’t only for dogs. We regularly drive cats too, and we’ve helped with chickens, pigs, reptiles and plenty of other pets. Most rides carry one or two pets depending on size, and each extra pet is just $5.
The Days Morris County Owners Call Us
Some calls we get every week. The workday vet visit is the most common, when the only opening is right in the middle of your schedule. Then there’s the pickup after surgery or a dental cleaning, when your dog is groggy and needs a calm ride home with someone who knows how to handle them. Households in Rockaway Township with one car call us when the car is with someone else and the groomer appointment can’t wait.
Senior dogs are a big part of this too. An older dog who can’t jump into an SUV anymore, or who gets nervous at the vet, does a lot better with a patient handler who takes things slowly. If you have a senior at home, our guide to senior dogs and daily walks covers more about adjusting their routine as they age.
How We Keep the Ride Calm and Safe
Every pet rides in a climate-controlled vehicle, secured in a proper crate or safety harness for the whole trip. Nobody rides loose. Our team is fully insured and bonded, every provider carries commercial liability coverage during transport, and everyone is CPR and First Aid certified.
Nervous dogs are where our team stands out. Our pet care providers are trained by an ADB Certified Canine Behavior Counselor, and many of our clients first came to us with reactive or anxious dogs that other services couldn’t handle. A car ride and a vet visit together is a lot for some dogs, and we take that seriously. If your pet is on the anxious side, we’re happy to set up a free meet and greet first so they know who’s picking them up.
At the appointment, it’s up to you. We can drop off and come back, or stay the whole time, handle check-in and pass along anything the vet needs to know. You’ll get updates and photos through our app during the ride, so you know when your pet has arrived and when they’re headed home.
Booking a Ride Through the App
Booking works the same way as every other service we offer. Open the app, pick the time, add any notes about your pet, and you’re done. There’s no phone tag and no waiting to hear back. Our rates stay the same every day of the year, with no holiday, weekend or credit card surcharges. Cancellations are free with 48 hours’ notice, and we offer same-day and next-day rides for emergencies.
If you’re new to Pups and Recreation, start with a free 15-minute phone consultation so we can learn about your pet and what they need.
Pair a Ride With the Rest of the Day
The pet taxi works with everything else we do. Plenty of clients book a ride to Adventure Daycare so their dog gets a full day of exercise and socializing without anyone leaving work. Others add a walk after a vet visit so their dog can shake off the stress of the appointment before settling in at home. If you’re traveling, a ride to boarding or the airport pairs easily with one of our vacation pet sitting packages.
