Why Chatham Families Choose Pups And Recreation

Chatham runs on the Midtown Direct schedule. Chatham station sits about a block from Main Street, so a lot of Chatham households leave early and get home late, while their dogs wait in classic 1930s colonials and Main Street apartments like Jackson House and Chatham on Main. We give those dogs a reliable midday break, timed to your train and covered by the same small team of walkers every week.

Three reasons Chatham clients pick Pups and Recreation:

  • An ADB Certified Canine Behavior Counselor on Call.

Meredith Kiani holds the Association of Dog Behaviorists' Certified Canine Behavior Counselor credential and is a New Jersey Animal Control Officer. If your Chatham dog is reactive, anxious, or still settling in after adoption, we don't just walk them, we structure each walk to support behavior progress. Most dog walkers have zero formal behavior training. We have a certified expert on call and a team ready to support that work.
  • Free Basic Training included with each walk.

Every walk includes loose-leash reinforcement and basic obedience cues at no extra charge. After about 10–15 walks, most clients report meaningful improvement in pulling, reactivity to other dogs, and door-rush behavior.
  • No Holiday or Weekend Rates. No Credit Card Fees. Ever.

Many local competitors charge $15–$25 extra for holidays, plus weekend premiums and a 3% credit-card processing fee. We don't. Our rate on July 4th is the same as our rate on a Tuesday in March, for every Chatham client.
  • Open 7am to 9pm. 365 days a year. Our Team is available!

We are there when you need it most. No need to check our availability or schedule! Whether its a same day appointment or vacation next year we can make it happen. Just simply book on our app and we’ll take care of the rest!

Chatham Parks, Trails & Walking Routes We Know

Chatham sits between the Passaic River and the Great Swamp, and we use the best of both:

  • Loantaka Brook Reservation — Chatham Township access off Loantaka Way. 850+ acres of paved and wooded trails we use for our 90-Minute Solo Trail Walks.
  • Passaic River County Park — 791–793 River Road, Chatham Township. Riverside trails along the Passaic River, flat and quiet for longer walks.
  • Shepard Kollock Park — Off Parrott Mill Road. A walking trail through wooded open space, ideal for dogs who prefer calm routes.
  • Stanley Park — River Road, Chatham Borough. A green space along the Passaic River with an easy loop for daily walks.
  • Garden Park — Off Main Street next to Chatham Middle School. A short, central loop that's perfect for quick midday visits.
  • Green Village Pond Conservation Area — Green Village Road, Chatham Township. A quiet conservation area with a pond and trails for low-stimulation walks.

Note: pets are not allowed at the Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center on Southern Boulevard, so we don't plan walks there. Whether your home is on Main Street, in Stanley, or out in Green Village, we have a team member who covers your street.

Chatham NJ FAQs

We just got our first puppy. Do you offer puppy visits?

Yes, and we don't charge extra for them. We do midday potty breaks, basic socialization, and gentle leash introduction for young puppies.

Yes. Loantaka's flat, paved trails are ideal for our 90-Minute Solo Trail Walk ($85), especially for senior dogs and dogs still learning loose-leash walking.

Yes. We serve Main Street apartment buildings and every condo and townhome community in Chatham. We work with lockboxes, smart locks, fobs, and building staff.

How do you handle Chatham commuter schedules?

We build recurring midday walks around your train. Most commuters book a 12 PM or 1 PM walk, and some add a later visit when they're on an evening train home.

Do you serve both Chatham Borough and Chatham Township?
