Why Boonton Families Choose Pups And Recreation

Boonton is a hill town with a historic heart. Main Street climbs up from the Rockaway River past 19th-century storefronts, Boonton station sits on the Montclair-Boonton Line, and I-287 and US 202 carry the rest of the commute. Next door, Mountain Lakes is known for its Hapgood houses and lakes. Steep streets and narrow sidewalks call for a walker who knows the routes. We do.

Three reasons Boonton-area clients pick Pups and Recreation:

  • An ADB Certified Canine Behavior Counselor on Call.

Meredith Kiani holds the Association of Dog Behaviorists' Certified Canine Behavior Counselor credential and is a New Jersey Animal Control Officer. If your Boonton dog is reactive, anxious, or still settling in after adoption, we don't just walk them, we structure each walk to support behavior progress. Most dog walkers have zero formal behavior training. We have a certified expert on call and a team ready to support that work.
  • Free Basic Training included with each walk.

Every walk includes loose-leash reinforcement and basic obedience cues at no extra charge. After about 10–15 walks, most clients report meaningful improvement in pulling, reactivity to other dogs, and door-rush behavior.
  • No Holiday or Weekend Rates. No Credit Card Fees. Ever.

Many local competitors charge $15–$25 extra for holidays, plus weekend premiums and a 3% credit-card processing fee. We don't. Our rate on July 4th is the same as our rate on a Tuesday in March, for every Boonton client.
  • Open 7am to 9pm. 365 days a year. Our Team is available!

We are there when you need it most. No need to check our availability or schedule! Whether its a same day appointment or vacation next year we can make it happen. Just simply book on our app and we’ll take care of the rest!

Boonton Parks, Trails & Walking Routes We Know

Boonton is surrounded by two of Morris County's best hiking areas. These are the routes we use most:

  • Grace Lord Park — West Main Street & Essex Avenue. Walking trails along the Rockaway River and the old ironworks, close to downtown.
  • Tourne County Park — Main entrance on McCaffrey Lane. 545 acres of wooded county trails, including the climb to the Tourne summit, for adventure walks.
  • Pyramid Mountain Natural Historic Area — 472 Boonton Avenue, Montville. Rocky, wooded trails and Bear Rock, best for fit, high-energy dogs.
  • Canal Side Park / Morris Canal Greenway — Upper Plane Street. A short walk along the old Morris Canal route with a bit of Boonton history.
  • Halsey Frederick Park (Mountain Lakes) — Powerville Road. A Mountain Lakes park with an easy walking loop for daily visits.
  • Maple Way Woodlands (Mountain Lakes) — About 50 acres of quiet woods in Mountain Lakes, ideal for reactive dogs that need low-stimulation routes.

Whether your home is on Main Street in the historic district, in South Boonton, or along the lakes in Mountain Lakes, we have a team member who covers your street. Boonton requires dogs on leash and waste picked up, and we follow that on every walk.

What Our Boonton Clients Say

Our Causes

Each month we fundraise for one of these great causes and donate what we can to help them save as many lives as possible. We host Walkathons every year on various Holidays where we donate our entire day to one of these causes, with 100% of all proceeds going directly to them. Since 2022 we've raised over $72,000 and have helped hundreds of pets find their furever homes!
