Why Randolph Families Choose
Pups and Recreation

We're not a national franchise or a side hustle. Pups and Recreation is owned and operated by Luigi and Alison out of Wharton, NJ. We meet every single client and their pets in person before starting with our service. Our team lives within 5-10 minutes of you. We know that Center Grove traffic can stretch a 4 mile drive to 25 minutes at school dismissal, that the trail at the back of Hedden Park gets icy by late afternoon in January, or that most Shongum Lake Homeowners don't want their pups walked after dark with all the tight roads. We know the area, because we live and walk dogs here every day.

Three things that set us apart from every other Randolph dog walking service:

  • An ADB Certified Canine Behavior Counselor on Call.

Meredith Kiani holds the Association of Dog Berhaviorists’ Certified Canine Behavior Counselor credential and is a New Jersey Animal Control Officer. If your dog is reactive, anxious, or recovering from a trauma history, we don't just walk them, we structure each walk to support behavior progress. Most Randolph dog walkers have zero formal behavior training. We have a certified expert on call, trainers on call and a team ready to support that work.
  • No Holiday or Weekend Rates. No Credit Card Fees. Ever.

Many local competitors charge $15–$25 extra for holidays, plus weekend premiums and a 3% credit-card processing fee. We don't. Our rate on July 4th is the same as our rate on a Tuesday in March.
  • Free Basic Training included with each walk.

Every walk includes loose-leash reinforcement and basic obedience cues at no extra charge. After about 10 -15 walks, most Randolph clients report meaningful improvement in pulling, reactivity to other dogs, and door-rush behavior.
  • Open 7am to 9pm. 365 days a year. Our Team is available!

We are there when you need it most. No need to check our availability or schedule! Whether its a same day appointment or vacation next year we can make it happen. Just simply book on our app and we’ll take care ofthe rest!

Randolph's trail system runs a 16-mile course traversing five parks, the Clyde Potts Reservoir Watershed, and 2,000 acres of pristine open space. The trails link together schools with neighborhoods and connect to Patriots' Path at Combs Hollow and Old Brookside.

Randolph's trails should be viewed as a work in progress as we continue to pursue
easements and funding to expand our trail network. The township funds 90% of design and construction costs through state grants and developer contributions. To date, over $1.5 million in state grants and developer contributions have been invested in Randolph's trails.

Open year-round, the trails can be used from dawn to dusk and are closed at night. During the winter months, there is no snow or ice removal, providing a wonderful opportunity for cross-country skiers and snowshoe enthusiasts.

Randolph Neighborhoods
& Trails We Walk

We cover every Randolph street and trail. The most-requested routes from our Randolph clients:

  • Patriots' Path through Randolph — Including the Hidden Valley Trailhead off Millbrook Avenue. Wooded, shaded, and excellent for high-energy dogs in summer
  • Hedden Park — 386 acres of trails, scenic views over Hedden Pond, and ourmost-walked Randolph route. Open dawn to dusk; we time our visits to avoid the busiest equestrian hours.
  • Clyde Potts Reservoir Watershed — 2,000 acres of preserved Randolph Township open space. Quiet, off-the-beaten-path trails ideal for reactive dogs needinglow-stimulation environments.
  • Randolph Township Trails Network — 16 miles of linked trails connecting five Randolph parks; our team knows every trailhead and the seasonal trail closures.
  • Shongum Lake neighborhood loops — Quiet residential streets, sidewalks where they exist, and the lake-perimeter walking routes residents know and love.
  • Mt. Freedom & Combs Hollow neighborhoods — Older Randolph streets with wider lots; ideal for puppies still learning to walk on leash without busy traffic.
  • Schoolhouse Road and Old Brookside Road corridors — Residential routes we use for daily 30-minute walks for senior dogs.

Whether your home is near the Randolph High School athletic fields, on the Mt. Freedom commercial corridor, or tucked back near the Clyde Potts watershed, we have a team member who covers your street.

Randolph NJ FAQs

How does your app work?

Every Pups and Recreation client gets access to our custom-built scheduling and report-card app. You request walks, see your schedule, pay invoices, and receive photo + GPS report cards after every visit. No texting, no calling, no paper invoices.

What happens during a free meet-and-greet?

We come to your home, meet your dog, walk through your routine (feeding, leash storage, alarm codes, medication, emergency contacts), and set up our app so you can book and pay in seconds. The meet-and-greet is always free and there's no obligation.

Do you walk dogs on holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, or July 4th?

Yes — 365 days a year means just that with no holiday surcharge as well. We're one of the very few Randolph dog walkers that doesn't charge extra for holidays.

Will I always have the same walker?

If you’re booking consistently every week we assign a few primary pet care providers for consistency, plus one or two backups trained on your dog's specific routines. This way your dog still gets familiar faces if your primary is sick or on vacation. If you’re booking vacations with us where we see them 3 to 4 times a day we try to limit the number of pet care providers to a team of 4 to 5 whenever possible. We don't rotate randomly through 20 strangers like the gig-economy apps do.

Do you take care of dogs with behavior issues, like leash reactivity?

Our staff have turned many dogs around after just a few months of working with us. For more severe cases we refer you out to an ADB Certified Canine Behavior Counselor (Meredith Kiani, also a NJ Animal Control Officer). We routinely walk reactive, anxious, and rescue dogs. Most clients see meaningful improvement within 10-15 walks because every walk includes structured behavior reinforcement at no additional charge.

How quickly can you start service in Randolph?

For most prospective Randolph clients, we can complete a free meet-and-greet within 48 hours and begin service the next day.

Are you insured and bonded?

Yes. Pups and Recreation carries full commercial liability insurance and is bonded. We can provide a certificate of insurance on request.

How much does dog walking cost in Randolph, NJ?

Our standard 30-minute walk is competitively priced for the Randolph market with no holiday, weekend, or credit-card surcharges. Many local competitors quote a lower base rate but add $20 holiday fees, $5 weekend premiums, and a 3% credit-card fee. We also don’t upcharge for Walks, or Puppy Care! Check out our Dog Walking or Pet Sitting page to get an idea of our all in pricing.
